How Do I Get My Domain Pointed To a Name Server

How-Do-I-Get -My-Domain-Pointed-To-a -Name-Server How do I get my domain pointed to a Name Server.

First , Your hosting provider (ex. Hostgator, Liquidweb, Just Host, Blue Host etc) should have given you the primary and secondary Name Server (DNS) information.

This information will usually take this form:

Primary Name Server: ns2297.hostgator.com

Secondary Name Server: ns2298.hostgator.com

Next…

1. Login to your domain registrar account (Where you purchased your domain name from. (ex GoDaddy,Name Cheap, Register.com, domain.com etc..)

2. Click Domains Manager

3. Check the box to select the domain and click on Name Servers

4. Select the last option ( I have specific Name Servers) and delete the actual name servers there and enter your own.

Voila! You just pointed your domain name to your name server :)

Please note that every DNS record change will take a minimum of 1 hours to propagate online. Be careful when making changes, since frequent changes are usually updated slower.
